I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. How many times have I laid awake, worrying about a problem or issue? This passage clearly says that I don’t need to do that … God is watching over me, so that I can sleep peacefully. God will keep my soul from all harm — He watches over my life.
The Message really drives this home with its translation of verse 2, “No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.” The Message
He made it all, He rules it all, He has it all under control. God is not surprised by earthquakes, or by anything else for that matter.
It is not my job to worry or keep watch — it is my job to trust the all-knowing, all-powerful God and to spend my time here making a difference for Him.
