Psalm 143:8

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. NIV

Many years ago, I picked up a chronological Bible.  Instead of starting in Genesis and working through to Revelation, it put all of the verses and stories in the Bible in chronological order and then divided them into 365 daily readings.

Several years in a row, I would vow to work my way through that Bible, but, I frequently got distracted by about March or April.

One year, though, I made it through, and that year, I got to spend almost an entire month of the summer with David.  It was a blessed time.  I learned so much from his writings about his relationship to God and about the trust he placed in his heavenly father.

I love this verse.

I am a morning person, and I love how this verse perfectly describes waking up secure in the unfailing love of God.  This security, this trust in God is the opposite of worry.  Instead of fretting over the day to come, David asks God to show him the way to go, “for to you I lift up my soul.”

David lived a surrendered life.  I will really think about that today.
