Psalm 146: 5-6
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them — the LORD, who remains faithful forever. NIV
I keep bumping into this same theme, over and over … God is my help. God is my hope. God is the Creator. He made everything, including me, for a purpose. God is faithful.
I know each of these things in my head … perhaps my heart is having a bit of trouble grasping their true meaning.
A woman I greatly admire says that if you keep hearing the same thing, and it’s Biblical, God is trying to get your attention.
I must fully assimilate each of these truths … each holds an important key to successfully navigating both my current situation and my life in general.
If I were musically gifted, I would write a song to keep these truths uppermost in my mind. I’m not.
I’ve thought about building a mnemonic by putting them in alpha order — Faithful God. Helper. Hope.
But, perhaps the best thing is to follow the command, the invitation, of Psalm 46:10 – “Be still and know that I am God.”
Be still. Be quiet. Close your eyes and contemplate. Know, with every fibre of your being, with every breath that you take, that God is faithful. He created you. By His grace, the oxygen goes in, the carbon dioxide goes out. The blood courses through your veins, and thoughts dance across the stage of your mind. God wants to help you. He wants your life here to be an amazing and wondrous experience. He wants you to laugh and to love and to help others, and He’s there to help with all of that. He wants you to seek Him. He wants to be the reason you get up in the morning … not some job or some obligation.
Faithful God: My Helper. My Hope.
That’s what I’ll think about today.
