Don’t hold back

Psalm 37:5-6

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:  He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. NIV

Commit your way to the LORD … That’s so powerful.

God created us to commune with us.  He created us that we might glorify Him.  He wants us to commit our lives, our way, to Him.

He wants us to choose to trust in Him, not in the things around us … things that we make with our own hands … those things become idols, and we are commanded not to have them.

I love how The Message paraphrases these two verses: “Open up before God, keep nothing back;  he’ll do whatever needs to be done:  He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon.” NIV

I simply love the implication here.  He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon. It is usually at night when I find that I am the most worried.  I’ll mull over an issue in my head … stressing about it.

But, in the daytime, things are ever so much more clear … they make more sense, and worry is easier to hold at bay.

This verse implies that God gets that … commit everything to Him … don’t hold back … and your life will be stamped with approval at High Noon … in the brightest of light … in the light of our Lord … everything will fall into place  — you’ll see that there is nothing to worry about, nothing to separate you from the glory of God.

That’s what I’ll think about today.

  1. Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.” 39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
